    We are seeking a dedicated Clinical Specialist who wants to be part of a company that makes a difference in patients' lives. This position is responsible for dual clinical/sales role to promote location growth and profitability for level 0 and 1 locations; for providing clinical patient services and support within the location; and for marketing core services and products to ensure referral sources receive the highest quality service.

    Clinical - 50-70% of the time

    • Maintains a current and complete listing of all current respiratory patients (e.g., Respiratory Grid)
    • Maintains an ongoing calendar listing dates of next patient contact for all respiratory patients and coordinates visits per Rotech’s policy
    • Maintains records and workspace in an organized, safe, clean, and efficient manner
    • Provides initial contact with all respiratory patients per Rotech policy and procedure
    • Conducts patient assessment per Rotech’s policies and procedures and the physician’s orders. Patient assessment may include but is not limited to:
    • Verbal assessment (e.g., patient history, symptom review, etc.)
    • Physical assessment (e.g., lung auscultation, blood pressure, etc.)
    • Diagnostics (e.g., spirometry, oximetry, sleep studies)
    • Clinical considerations communicated back to physician based upon patient’s need and response to current therapy
    • Provides Sleep Central CPAP Clinics for patients per Rotech’s policies and procedures
    • Provides patient education as applicable. Education may include but is not limited to:
    • Respiratory equipment use, maintenance and safety
    • Physician’s prescription for equipment use
    • Importance of compliance with physician’s prescription
    • Benefits of therapy
    • Potential consequences of noncompliance
    • Potential adverse reactions/side effects from therapy
    • Sets up and monitors ongoing function per Rotech’s policies and procedures for all highly technical respiratory equipment including but not limited to:
    • Invasive ventilator
    • Noninvasive ventilator
    • Infant monitors
    • Other high-tech respiratory equipment as defined by scope of service at the branch (e.g., cough assist, negative pressure ventilation, IPPB, etc.)
    • Maintains documentation of all services provided and all work performed per Rotech’s policies and procedures
    • Assumes on-call responsibilities for phone consultations during non-business hours as outlined by Rotech’s policy and Area Clinical Manager
    • Supports orientation and training of other personnel at the direction of Area Clinical Manager
    • Performs other duties as required by state licensure law
    • Performs other duties and responsibilities as defined by Area Clinical Manager

    Sales - 30-50% of the time

    • Accountable for revenue and market share growth
    • Accountable for achieving active and potential referral accounts and growth targets
    • Develops a strategic plan to maintain and increase market share based on geographic boundaries and population demographics
    • Creates and acts on a strategic territory plan
    • Maintains account record profiles on all referral sources
    • Monitors and acts on marketing plan, daily, weekly, and monthly reports to comply with location’s goals to manage budget and inventory
    • Develops and maintains working knowledge of current products and services offered by the company and all applicable governmental regulations
    • Oversees CMN retrieval process
    • Develops detailed knowledge of important referral sources in the sales territory
    • Develops and maintains a working knowledge of current Medicare, Medicaid, insurance regulations, and FDSA/DOT and JCAHO guidelines
    • Maintains up-to-date licensure certification or other requirements per state law in the state's) of practice.
    • Maintains continuing education as necessary for performance of job responsibilities and as required for state licensure or certification.
    • Performs all other duties as required or assigned

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    Education & Experience

    • Completion of an accredited program/degree in respiratory care preferred. Nursing or other paramedical training may be acceptable depending upon state licensure laws.
    • Home respiratory care experience is preferred
    • Degree in respiratory therapy or related science is preferred
    • At least two years job-related experience
    • Valid driver’s license with a clean record in the state in which you reside (where applicable)
    • Employment is contingent upon a drug screening test and background investigation

    Certifications, License, Registrations

    • Credentials as a respiratory therapist, Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) is preferred but other medical credentials may be acceptable (e.g., RN, LPN, LPV) depending upon state licensure laws
    • Must be licensed in primary state of home office as required by state law and provide a copy of license to the location. May be required to obtain license in neighboring states as required by service area of location.
    • Must possess a current driver’s license and/or commercial driver’s license as required by law and issued by the State in which they are employed
    • Maintain CEUs as required by state law, and if not required by state law, then maintain a minimum of 4 CEUs per year


    • Effective oral and written communication with location staff, supervisors, patients, caregivers, and referral sources
    • Strong organizational, time, and territory management skills
    • Strong leadership abilities
    • Must be able to review patient charts and discern compliance with Rotech’s policies and procedures
    • Must be able to make appropriate recommendations for changes to patient care as dictated by patient assessment
    • Ability to analyze and understand market needs and opportunity

    Physical Demands

    • Requires sitting, walking, standing, talking or listening
    • Requires close vision to small print on computer and or paperwork
    • Requires lifting and transporting of patient equipment
    • Requires contact with patients and equipment with potential exposure to contagious pathogens

    Machines, Equipment and Technical Abilities

    • All applicable home respiratory equipment and supplies
    • Common office equipment (e.g., copier, fax, computer, etc.)
    • Basic computer skills in Microsoft products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet and e-Mail software programs

    Work Environment

    • Office, warehouse, and field
    • Some travel via automobile required to patient’s homes, referral sources, and location meetings
    • Will maintain an office as provided by Location Manager
    • Occasionally works alternative schedules to accommodate Sleep Central Clinics, i.e. 11:00 am - 8:00 pm
    • Position has a direct reporting line to the Area Clinical Manager (for daily clinical activities) with a communication line to the Area Manager of Sales (for daily sales activities), and an indirect reporting line to the Region Manager, Division Vice President, and Division Clinical Manager
    • Regular interaction with billing center personnel
    • Daily interaction with individual customers, caregivers, vendors, referral sources, and sales team
    • Work very closely and maintain close line of communication with Location Manager
    • Close communication with all other branch personnel should be maintained to ensure consistent communication on patient matters
    • May be required to use a personal vehicle for business activities with reimbursement according to Rotech’s policy
